Modern Warfare 4: A Future Call of Duty Classic or Too Early to Tell?

Modern Warfare 4 has sparked a familiar Call of Duty argument: can a strong campaign and promising early multiplayer experience turn a new entry into an all-time favorite? Some players are already praising the campaign, while others want to see how multiplayer balance, long-term support and DMZ develop before making that call. What would MW4 need to deliver to stand alongside the franchise's most beloved releases?

Fair. A brilliant campaign can't fix frustrating multiplayer, but getting both right would make this a serious contender.

The campaign has me hooked in a way I haven't felt from COD in years. If the rest of the game delivers, this could be special.

Campaign quality is a great start, but the multiplayer and post-launch support will decide whether people are still playing six months from now.

I'm holding off on calling it one of the greats until weapon balance, maps and matchmaking are in a good place.

COD4 through BO2 set an absurdly high bar. Every new game gets compared with that era for a reason.

True, but every generation deserves its own classics. MW2019 showed that the series can still create a new benchmark.

For me, DMZ could be the deciding factor. A strong extraction mode gives people a reason to keep coming back long after the campaign ends.

Especially if progression stays rewarding and cheating gets handled properly. That's where long-term player trust matters.
