Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has launched its first DLC, the C.O.D.E. Valor Pack, featuring Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter. Activision will donate 100% of its net proceeds to help military veterans find employment.

1.What happened
:

Released alongside Modern Warfare 4 on October 23, the $19.99 C.O.D.E. Valor Pack brings retired U.S. Marine Kyle Carpenter into the game as a playable Operator. Carpenter received the Medal of Honor for shielding a fellow Marine from a grenade blast in Afghanistan in 2010.

2.Why matters
:

Players can turn an optional purchase into support for veterans seeking work after military service. Skipping the pack means missing a chance to contribute through a franchise they already enjoy, while receiving themed in-game items.

Carpenter earned the Medal of Honor for his actions in Marjah, Afghanistan, on November 21, 2010. When a grenade landed near him and fellow Marine Nick Eufrazio, Carpenter moved to shield his teammate from the explosion. He suffered severe injuries, spent five weeks unconscious, and lost an eye and most of his teeth. The Valor Pack was developed in collaboration with Carpenter, who helped shape details inspired by his service and recovery. One item, the “Nice Try” weapon charm, reflects the humor and resilience he says helped him through adversity. The combat knife blueprint and other cosmetics also draw from his personal story. The Call of Duty Endowment funds programs that help former service members secure civilian employment. Activision says its net proceeds from this pack will support that mission. The pack costs $19.99 in the United States, with equivalent pricing in other regions.
